We live in a world that often glorifies the hustle.
The relentless pursuit of career success, the long hours, the constant "on" mentality. But what happens when that hustle comes at the expense of our health, our relationships, and our overall well-being? Last week I had a conversation with my client, John, that served as a powerful reminder of the importance of living a life that truly matters. John said to me "Ben, you provide the launchpad to really enjoy my life within the health, fitness and adventures you offer," he shared. ‘Tell me....’ I replied "I have done my time in the corporate world, working 15-hour days, weekends, and missing too many of my kid's big events. Now it is my time to really live." It got me thinking….. John's story isn't unique. It's a narrative that resonates with many of my clients who have dedicated years to climbing the corporate ladder, only to realise that the view from the top doesn't quite match the picture they had in mind. The sacrifices made along the way—the missed birthdays, the neglected health, the strained relationships—begin to weigh heavily. John's journey highlights the critical distinction between merely existing and truly living. He spent years in a state of constant motion, driven by ambition and a sense of obligation. But somewhere along the line, he realised that he was missing out on the very things that gave life meaning. The Turning Point: A Shift in Perspective John's turning point wasn't a sudden epiphany. It was a gradual awakening, a realisation that the balance had tipped too far in one direction. He recognised the need to reclaim his time, his energy, and his passion for life. This shift in perspective wasn't about abandoning his career entirely. It was about redefining success on his own terms. It was about creating a life that allowed him to thrive both professionally and personally.
