This past weekend we took on the legendary Dragons Back walk in the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype! Starting in the picturesque village of Pengenffordd, we set off with anticipation, ready to tackle the undulating trails and soak in the promised breathtaking scenery. "We came, we saw, we hiked, and we didn't hold back!" perfectly encapsulates our experience. The route, a true testament to the raw beauty of the Black Mountains, challenged us with its ups and downs, but the reward was well worth the effort. While the day presented us with a bit of atmospheric fog, obscuring some of the long-range vistas, the sheer majesty of the landscape was still palpable. We knew, even through the mist, that the 360-degree views from the "Dragons Back" were truly something special. Having experienced these views previously, it was clear that the fog was simply adding a mystical layer to an already incredible location. The highlight, of course, was reaching Waun Fach, the highest point of the Black Mountains. Standing atop "the small moor," a sense of accomplishment washed over us, amplified by the knowledge that we had conquered this iconic peak. The feeling of being surrounded by such natural grandeur is simply indescribable. The trails themselves were a delight, offering a mix of challenging climbs and gentle descents. The camaraderie amongst our group was fantastic, with shared laughter and encouragement propelling us forward. It was a day of pure adventure, a reminder of the power and beauty of the natural world. Despite the foggy conditions, the Dragons Back walk delivered an unforgettable experience. It's a testament to the enduring allure of the Brecon Beacons, a place where adventure and natural beauty collide. So, who's ready for the next one? We're already itching to explore more of this incredible region. As Mark said about the day, "A very professionally run event, well communicated, continual updates with all required information. All as planned, event information was accurate and Ben made sure everybody was included and enjoyed the event with continual check ins and allowing the group to walk at their own pace safely and enjoyable. Good to meet up with new and existing friends all there for the same goal, fun, fitness and generally just being outside in the fresh air. Would have no worries in recommending Ben and Project Active for future events and fitness goal planning. Well done Ben as always." Stay tuned for details on our next adventure!
