If you’re a busy professional, you already know the frustrating truth:
Health and fitness is rarely the problem — time, stress and consistency are. You can have the best intentions in the world, but when work is relentless, family life is full, and your brain never really switches off, the usual advice falls flat. Generic gym programmes assume you’ve got spare hours, endless motivation and a body that behaves perfectly - That’s not real life. The Project Active Way is built for real people with real schedules. It’s an innovative step forwards because it isn’t “just training”. It’s a clear pathway that blends mindset, health, fitness and real-world adventure — designed to help you move forwards even when life is busy. Why traditional methods don’t stick Most people don’t fail because they’re lazy - They fail because the plan doesn’t fit.
Project Active flips that model - The Project Active Pathway (built around you) Instead of throwing you into a one-size-fits-all routine, we take you through a structured, progressive pathway.

As the year draws to a close, it is both a privilege and a necessity to pause and reflect on the journey we have shared at Project Active. 2025 has been a year defined by resilience, transformation, and the unyielding spirit of our Tribe. Each month brought its own unique challenges and triumphs, which we have captured in our blog and now present as a comprehensive review.
This timeline not only celebrates our milestones but also serves as a testament to the power of community, adventure, and purposeful coaching. Have a look and ask yourself - Would I like to be a part of this? Next Session: Saturday 7th June
In an age where young people spend increasing amounts of time indoors, glued to screens and disconnected from nature, Project Active's Junior Mountain Biking programme offers something revolutionary: a chance for children to rediscover their wild side whilst building essential life skills. More Than Just Riding Bikes Our Junior MTB sessions, running regularly in the stunning Oxfordshire countryside and beyond, represent far more than simple cycling lessons. They embody our core philosophy that "movement is medicine and the outdoors is tonic for the mind" - a principle that becomes even more powerful when applied to developing young minds. Research consistently demonstrates that mountain biking provides exceptional developmental benefits for children aged 12-16. Physical fitness and coordination naturally improve, but the psychological benefits are equally profound. When a young rider conquers a challenging trail section they previously thought impossible, you witness genuine confidence building in real-time. The alarm clock buzzed, but there was no hint of Monday morning blues.
Today was Saturday, and the promise of sunshine and fantastic trails in the Chiltern Hills beckoned. It was a morning dedicated to two of my favourite things: mountain biking and connecting with clients amidst stunning scenery. Our route for the day? A glorious 50-kilometre loop through the undulating terrain of the Chilterns. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its ancient woodlands and rolling hills, offers a fantastic playground for mountain bikers of all levels. But today, it was about more than just the ride; it was about shared experience, camaraderie, and enjoying the simple pleasure of pedalling through nature's masterpiece. As the crisp winter air begins to soften and the days lengthen, a sense of anticipation fills the Oxfordshire mountain biking community. It’s that time of year again – the much-awaited return of our weekly mountain bike rides, kicking off in March! After a winter of hibernation and down right miserable mud and slop to ride in, it's time to dust off those trusty steeds and prepare for an exhilarating season of trail adventures. Whether you're a seasoned shredder or a newcomer eager to explore the beauty of Oxfordshire's terrain, these rides offer something for everyone. Remember the thrill of your first bike ride?
The wind in your hair, the wobbly excitement, the sheer joy of freedom? We're looking to ignite that same spark in a new generation of riders. In the heart of West Oxfordshire and Woodstock initially, a seed of an idea is growing a junior mountain bike group, ready to carve its own path through the local trails. Picture this: a group of young adventurers, (secondary school age), gathering at the trailhead, their bikes gleaming in the sunlight. Some are seasoned riders, eager to conquer new challenges; others are just starting out, their eyes wide with anticipation. But they all share one thing: a love for the outdoors and a thirst for adventure. Hey fellow mountain bikers! Ready to shred some trails in Oxfordshire and beyond? Whether you're a seasoned pro looking for new challenges or just starting out and eager to explore the world of mountain biking, I'm here to make your rides a positive and unforgettable experience! As Oxfordshire's only registered Mountain Bike Leader, I bring a unique level of expertise, passion, and local knowledge to every ride. (Don't just take my word for it – check out my registration on The British Cycling Directory) This registration ensures I meet the highest standards of safety and professionalism, giving you peace of mind on every ride. Why Ride with Me? As the festive cheer fades and the depths of winter settle in, many of us experience a dip in mood and motivation. The concept of "Blue Monday," falling this year, often looms large, casting a shadow over the start of the year. While the scientific validity of "Blue Monday" is debated, it undeniably serves as a timely reminder to prioritize our mental wellbeing, especially during the colder, darker months. This January, let's proactively combat potential seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and embrace strategies that foster a positive mindset and enhance our overall wellbeing. This year, let's choose to think differently about our health and fitness. What makes this time of year so challenging? The day we had been waiting for 18 months is finally upon us. After rescheduling due to Covid and lockdowns we had finally managed to rebook and actually make the journey to South Wales to Bike park Wales and a day of fun!
A nice early start with 2 pickups on the way (two clients for their first visit to BPW). The journey from there included lots of fun, chatter and banter as to what we could expect both on the Welsh weather front and on the downhill trails (accompanied with a very nice early morning coffee and a croissant stop) We arrived to a cool morning slightly overcast and a touch damp but our mighty spirits were high as we caught up with the rest of the Project Active MTB group. It really doesn’t matter how old we actually are but we all agreed it was like being teenagers again looking for the thrill of the unknown. Once I had helped our BPW virgins orientate themselves and the way things are done - we were off! On the uplift for our first run of the day with my constant words of ‘first one is a warm-up, to find a little bit of flow and feel and what is going on and get the body and mind working - DO NOT GO MAD’. As the morning progressed so did the confidence and appetite for more took over - We were flying! Skills and techniques were developing nicely for everyone, with lots of big smiles and laughter through muddy faces a constant. My role simply is to give a few words of wisdom to keep everyone safe and staying on two wheels but to challenge personal boundaries. As a mixed group of abilities, we all managed somewhere between 8-12 runs but more importantly, we all got to the end of the day with accidents and injuries with everyone reporting awesome feedback not only about the day but the way is was organised and communicated. So if you have a group of friends or work colleagues that want to start off-road cycling then me a shout as British cycling MTB level 2 leader, I can help put the fundamentals in place, to support and guide you and even get all the bikes where they need to be. We have an active MTB section so please get in touch if want to join us on our Tuesday night group ride from Long Hanborough, West Oxfordshire or on one of many upcoming adventures. |
